M. Tariq's story
M. Tariq, age 37 years, is a responsible father of four children. He has been running his business for many years. In fact, he owns a small garment-making business. He takes contracts from wholesalers and sews jeans pants and jackets on order. His business is situated near his house in the area of Lahore, Pakistan. One of his brothers and many hired tailors help him with sewing the garments. M. Tariq belongs to the middle standard family income level. He is unable to provide better education to his children due to low earnings, because a major portion of the business income is divided among the tailors. He has been facing a tough time due to his low income. He cannot do any other business, so he decided to expand his current enterprise. He does not want to sew the garments on order because the contractors criticize and find drawbacks in his completed shipments. He wants to buy his own raw material in the form of denim fabric for sewing jeans pants, so he could directly sell them to the retailers. Therefore, M. Tariq has requested a Kiva loan through BRAC Pakistan so he can buy fabric for sewing jeans pants. He seems happy after receiving the loan.
