Cahaya Baru Group's story

The Cahaya Baru Group is located in Sumberkima village, North Bali. 'Cahaya Baru' means 'New Light' and they hope the group will be the light for their neighborhood. This group consists of seven women who have similar businesses as charcoal makers. They make charcoal and sell it to the big buyers. Charcoal is usually used to roast fish, chicken, pigs or other foods in restaurants. The Cahaya Baru group is headed by Nur. Nur has three children, all of whom are still in school. Her husband works as a brick-maker. The group proposes to obtain a loan to purchase wood to make charcoal. Nur will also use her loan to purchase wood. This is Nur's first loan and she hopes that all plans will run smoothly and that she can improve the income of her family. She has a dream to renovate her house, using the income.
