Los Perseverantes Group's story
The people shown belong to the “LOS PERSEVERANTES” [Those who persevere] communal bank, located in the district of Cusco, in Cusco province, in the department of Cusco. Alejandrina still runs her grocery store; she has been doing this for quite some time now, and it brings her personal satisfaction as well as financial benefits. She is responsible and a hard worker, and wants to continue running this business in order to continue supporting her family. Alejandrina is requesting this loan to buy goods such as milk and snacks, among others. The other members of the communal bank earn their living in a variety of ways, including by selling accessories and providing lodging; running photocopy shops, internet cafes, restaurants, and bakeries; and as locksmiths. The members who do not appear in the main photo requested permission to arrive late to the meeting for personal and work reasons. The person whose face is covered is not a member of the communal bank. Alejandrina thanks those who are helping her to achieve her goals through KIVA, and she is committed to paying off her loan in a timely manner.
