Lefa's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to pay for one year of tuition fees and living expenses at the Maharishi Institute.
Lefa is a business management student at the Maharishi Institute. Lefa is 22 years old and was asked the following questions by a staff member of the Institute: What do you study at the Maharishi Institute and what classes do you enjoy most? “I am studying Bachelor of Business Administration and Basic Consciousness Education. These classes lead me to the goal that I have set for myself since starting at the school. The meditation makes me more aware of my surroundings and I can be fully awakened within myself.” What are your goals after graduation? “I just want to get out there and work, and experience life and learn about people and management and the world. I don’t mind what sector or what job.” Tell us about your background. “I was born in Ventersdorp, south of Johannesburg. My two older sisters and I were raised by a single mother, living with my grandmother and grandfather. My mother is a domestic worker and our primary breadwinner. My two sisters are now married but as I am still young, I am not allowed to get married yet.” What do you do in your spare time? “I love to play soccer, watch movies and listen to music. I also enjoy spending time with my mother, or with my friends. How will the Kiva loan change your life? “A loan from Kiva will enable me to finally stand on my own financial feet. It will help me to fulfill the goals that I have set for myself and study my degree with dedication. It will mean that my mother’s money can support the family more, as I’ll be able to pay for my fees.”
