Ana Patricia's story
Ana Patricia is a single mother and comes from one of the coastal areas of the district of Chinandega, where the main activities are trade and tourism. Ana, as a small entrepreneur, buys and sells various items, such as clothes, shoes, cosmetics, plastic products, popsicles, chocolate bananas, and iced fruit popsicles. She buys the items cash in other parts of the country or from traders in her area, and sells both cash and on credit, with more customers opting for the latter. Her customers are workers and schoolchildren. She asks for a loan in order to buy merchandise to sell, such as notebooks, pencils, and backpacks, and to buy ingredients such as sugar, coconuts, biscuits, and cocoa in order to make delicous ice-cream. Ana is very grateful to Kiva lenders for the support they lend to people with low income.
