A loan helped to build a room.
María Alejandra's story
María, 37, didn't go to school at all, regrettably. She was raised by an aunt and not given the opportunity to go to school because she wasn't her aunt's own child. She only worked very hard from a young age to get her food. Now she's married and has three children. Two of them live with her and attend school; her oldest son lives in another city. Her husband works in the canals and helps María economically. Currently María makes a living selling fruits and vegetables, work she has done since she was a little girl. Back then she had to do everything she could to work at something, and now this is helping her support her family. María gets up very early to go to the market and shop. Then she has to walk to the nearby cantons to sell her products. She doesn't stop working, because she doesn't go home to take care of her children until she sells all her merchandise. Sometimes María's daughter goes with her if she doesn't go to school. María's requesting this loan to build a room, because her house is very small. She also wants to invest in her business by paying someone to help her. Her dreams are to have a decent house to live in with her children and grandchildren, and be able to give them an education, something she, unfortunately, wasn't able to have. She also wants to get a stall in the market so she won't have to walk so much. María trusts in God that this loan will help her get ahead. It's a big effort, but the only way she'll have a better financial situation.
