Ixa Patricia's story

Ixa is an enthusiastic young woman with a can-do spirit. She is 27 years old, married, and the mother of two young children who are attending the local school in different grade levels. She was able to finish high school thanks to her parents' financial and moral support. They helped her out as much as their finances would permit For five years she has been selling food in her little restaurant next to her one-room house, strategically located in a touristed area of the southern region of the country, known for its beaches and beautiful landscapes. She gets all kinds of travelers as customers, from all over Honduras and from Nicaragua and El Salvador. Ixa's dream is to expand and refurbish her little restaurant, which is her only source of income to support her family. Her husband helps her out in the restaurant taking care of the customers who stop in every day. As a mother, she wants to support her children in their studies unconditionally so that they can acquire knowledge and new ideas to improve their futures and lives. Ixa is therefore applying for a loan from the cooperative COMIXMUL, which she will use to purchase tables and chairs to replace the furniture she currently has, which is in bad shape. She wants to improve her business's appearance and make her customers more comfortable.
