A loan helped To purchase additional vending machines.
Ricardo had been working at a job he didn’t like for over ten years. He was tired of complaining about it and not doing anything to change his situation so he decided to start his own business and be his own boss. He got into the vending business in 2013 and loves it. The only problem is, he says: "I was receiving more requests for my vending services to the point I ran out of money to buy machines and had to think of another way to receive funds to purchase more. I tried going to the traditional banks for loans and that was a dead end. I was ready to begin using my credit cards to purchase machines until a friend of mine referred me to Valley Economic Development Center (VEDC). A representative at VEDC informed me about the company Kiva and how they help people with small business. I was a little nervous to apply for this loan because I have been denied before, but I am glad I did because I was approved. I was able to buy more machines and even rent an office space for my products and equipment. Thanks to Kiva, I am able to continue to expand my business."
