Las Amigas Group's story

The communal bank Las Amigas is comprised of 20 members and it is in its fifth loan cycle through the women's program. All the members work and help each get ahead. They are participating in a poverty elimination survey to know what level each member is at so she can work accordingly. One of the members is Sandra who shows a level 1 on the survey, meaning she has a very low income. Through her effort, continuous work and application of essential characteristics of a successful woman, she is improving her poverty situation. But she is also conscious of the fact that this work and effort should be consistent and permanent in order to be totally successful and give her family a better lifestyle. Part of the work she does involves teaching at a school. Sandra is requesting a loan to buy teaching materials to help improve the quality of her work so she can increase her income.
