A loan helped to buy a Sistema Biobolsa biodigester and biogas stove.
José Humberto's story
José Humberto is a Cholulteco cattle rancher and runs a butcher shop. Currently, he finds himself spending excessive amounts on non-renewable, fossil-fuel-derived propane, which he and his employees use to prepare and add value to the meat they sell. He wants to reduce his operating costs and sees his investment in a 40 cubic meter Sistema Biobolsa biodigester as an excellent opportunity. Using his biodigester, he will be able to turn the abundant cow manure generated daily on his farm into renewable energy and biofertilizer. He'll feed the system with manure and through a process of anaerobic digestion, the organic waste will be transformed into methane-rich, renewable biogas and potent organic fertilizer. José Humberto will use the biogas to replace the propane he currently uses to cook with, and the biofertilizer will be applied to his crops, improving yields without him having to spend more on petroleum-based agrochemical fertilizers. José Humberto will save money, help the environment, and more completely benefit from what his animals provide him. This loan represents 50% of the total cost of his Sistema Biobolsa biodigester and biogas stove.
