Jennifer Lisseth's story
The Credit Group "Mujeres Unidas" (United Women) meets every 15 days in the Abdon Calderon neighborhood of the city of Manta. Manta is well known for its beautiful beaches, which are well visited at all seasons of the year, and for being a beautiful city with many tourist attractions. Jennifer lives here. She is 21 years old and has a live-in partner with whom she has a three year old son. Her live-in partner is a construction worker. Jennifer is a housewife. To earn her own income, since her partner's earnings are not enough for the family, she sells clothing and Esika catalog products (beauty items, cosmetics, perfumes and women's accessories) through catalogs. She sells door to door. When she is not so busy, she sells to her customers and allows them to pay her back a week or two later if they need to. She has been selling like this for three years. It has helped her family stay afloat whenever her partner did not have any work. This loan is to buy clothing, perfumes, creams and cosmetics to sell. She has been part of the Credit Group for 3 years and she likes that the loans are quick and helpful. Her dream is to give her son the best in life.
