Ann Banadurga Shg Group's story
The "Ann Banadurga SHG" group consists of ten women who live in the rural area of Odisha, India. Its people work in the fields in activities such as animal husbandry and agriculture; many people also head to the city every day for various types of work like vegetable selling, flower selling, etc. The members still proudly preserve their traditional dress as well as their cuisine. They always strive to provide their children with a better future. One of the group members is Pratva, the lady sitting with a raised hand. She is forty-three years old, married, and has two children, aged eight and thirteen. Her children attend an area school. Her husband is a farmer, and he is engaged in paddy cultivation. Pratva's husband helps in her business. They live in their own home. Pratva spends her time at home, caring for their children. However, to help her husband with living expenses, she raises cows and sells the cows’ milk. She currently has two cows. She also works in agriculture for both home and commercial use. This loan is to purchase a Jersey cow and its fodder so that she can increase her milk production. Her goal is to own more higher-quality cows. On the behalf of this group, Pratva says, "We are very much thankful to Kiva lenders for their help and support."
