Kadidatou Aliou's Group's story
This group was created on May 17, 2011 when their 'banc villageois' was inaugurated. Within it are women who are good and honest and who wish to do more for their households. The women all live in the same village. An unshakeable solidarity exists among them. Their main work involves small-scale commerce and making traditional soaps. Ms. Kadiatou (standing at the far right with her left hand raised) is the featured borrower of the group. She is married and the mother of eight children, including 5 boys. She is a very determined women in her work and within her group, too. She sells smoked and dried fish that she purchases at the weekly market in a neighboring country. She then sells the fish retail in and around the village. With this loan, she intends to purchase at least a half-basket of smoked and dried fish each week to resell. The profits will be used in part to increase her savings and to support her husband in covering the children's education costs.
