Joli Group's story
The Joli group is made up of married women, who average 38 years of age with four children each. They all live in traditional families in the town of Dioila, which lies in the Kaladougou municipality of the Dioila prefecture in the Koulikoro region (the Republic of Mali's second administrative region). They got to know each other either because they were relatives, neighbors or friends. They have restauration activities and sell condiments and firewood. The women in this group are now on their second group loan. The customer, Salimata, who is in the middle of the photo, sells sandwiches at the school. She gets her supplies of bread from the bakery and meat from the butchers in Dioila. She expects to use 50 bread rolls and 3kg of meat a day. She plans to make a monthly profit of 32,000FCFA. This profit will be reinjected into her sandwich business. She also plans to start selling of wheat-flour pasta in the near future.
