Allieu's Group's story
Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT) is very pleased to present to you this group of teachers from the eastern city of Kenema. They have come to SMT to apply for a loan of 6,000,000 SLL for the entire group in order to meet their most immediate and pressing financial needs. At the end of each month, they can easily repay the loan, using their salaries. It is their school's bursar who is directly responsible for making the deductions and repaying the loan on their behalf. Alieu is the featured leader of this group of teachers. The thirty-seven-year-old man is married to a trader and the couple has two children attending primary and secondary school. The native of Mendekelema has been a school teacher for nine years. He has requested this loan in order to invest it in a business. He will use it to buy palm-oil (the country's most popular cooking oil) to sell. In this way, Alieu will make extra money to supplement his monthly salary.
