A loan helped to buy fertiliser to maintain his coffee crop.
Elser Moises's story
Elser Moises is 47 years old and lives with his wife in the Sallique district, a mainly agricultural community with lemon as its main crop, with other sources of income such as commerce and animal husbandry. This district is in the Jaén province in the Cajamarca region in the northern mountains of Perú. He makes a living from agriculture, owning approximately 1 hectare of lemon orchards, and has been doing this for 15 years. He also grows coffee and sells bread to go in a small scale. The lemons he produces are sold from his home to fruit merchants who then take these to be sold in the city of Chiclayo. He is requesting a loan of 2000 nuevos soles to invest in the maintenance of his crops, to buy fertiliser and therefore have a good production and opportune harvest for his customers, in this way generating more income for his family.
