A loan helped to purchase feed for chickens.
Rosa Maclovia's story
Doña Rosa has for the past three years taken out loans with her friends and colleagues from the Sector 3 Marías Communal Bank. She is pleased with this type of loan because it allows her step away from her work routine and spend a little time with her friends. Doña Rosa is 41 and married to a bricklayer who works in the construction industry. The couple owns their own home and are the parents of four children, ages 21, 18, 17, and 15. The two oldest children are sons who work and study; the third child is a daughter who is married and lives with her husband; and the youngest son is in high school. Doña Rosa and her family live in a section of Turi Parish in Cuenca, Ecuador, where many people are farmers, ranchers, and shopkeepers. Doña Rosa's neighborhood is very popular with tourists as it offers beautiful views of the city. Doña Rosa takes care of her home and also raises chickens, pigs, and guinea pigs. She also grows crops for the family and sells part of the harvest. Doña Rosa is taking out another loan to purchase feed for her chickens as she has a large flock. Her goal is to continue growing her business.
