Soutoura Group's story
The four members of the Soutoura group are married women, who are on average 36 years old and have four kids and live in traditional families in OUAYERMA I, a neighborhood in the third administrative region of Mali (SIKASSO). They are collaborating with microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso in order to see through their businesses. They are on their fourteenth loan with the institution, and all of their previous loans were properly repaid. The things that are sold include: potatoes, wheat flour, condiments, and fabrics with Mrs. Mariam, first woman on the left. With her loan, she plans to buy rolls of fabric from wholesalers and make her sales at the market and from home to a clientele composed mainly of dressmakers. She foresees making an average monthly profit of 35,000 francs CFA. The profit will allow her to repay her loan and also to help her husband with the daily expenses.
