Swapna's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to purchase a goat for her animal husbandry.
Swapna is a 22-year-old married woman. She is from a rural area in Magurmari in the district of Jalpaiguri. She attended school up to class VII (grade 8). She is raising two daughters together with her husband. Both the daughters are below the school-going age. Swapna's husband, Santu, is 26 years old. He has completed primary education. He is engaged in a business of making 'Jarda' (a locally made mouth freshener). His earnings are too little to run a family well. Swapna is a housewife, raising her children, doing all the household work. She is a very energetic and hardworking woman. She runs an animal husbandry business, after managing all the work of her family. As an extra means of income, Swapna works with livestock, a business that she started five years ago to give her husband financial support, thanks to her persistent work. With an aim to develop her business, Swapna applied for a loan from BJS (Kiva’s partner) to purchase a goat to increase the number of livestock. She plans to invest the income from the loan in further increasing the number of livestock to give her family a decent lifestyle. She also plans to save money for the education of her children.
