Pepper Sellers Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy rice, pepper, onions, tomatoes, margi, etc. in large quantities to add to her current stock.

Pepper Sellers Group's story

In the photo are members of the “Pepper Sellers” group. They are small scale businesswomen based in Magburaka, a town in northern Sierra Leone. This is the first loan these entrepreneurs are accessing from SMT/Kiva lenders. With this loan, they will be able to expand their respective businesses, make more profit and consequently improve on their standard of living. The featured leader of this group is Zainab. Zainab is aged 39, and was born in northern Sierra Leone. She is married to a trader and the couple have four children – three are in primary school and one is in secondary school. Zainab has been a businesswoman for many years now. She sells market food – rice, pepper, onions, tomatoes, margi (used to give sauce a sweet taste) etc. With her share of this loan, she is going to buy rice, pepper, onions, tomatoes, margi, etc. in large quantities to add to her current stock. Also included in the right of the photo is loan officer Gibrill, posing with the borrowers.
