Gladis Ondina's story

Gladis is an enterprising and tenacious 28 year old young woman. She is motivated by her family and her life partner. He is her unconditional support in the different field activities that they do like applying fertilizers, leaf fertilizers, and insecticides; collecting the harvest; and clearing the fields, among others. She went to primary school until the fourth grade because her family has scarce financial resources, and they were not able to support her. She has three small children who are not yet school age. She has been growing coffee, corn, and beans for over seven years. Her siblings taught her to work at a very early age. Now, she continues exercising this business activity together with her life partner. Her crops are located two kilometers from her house. She gets there on a mule or by walking. Her challenges are the changes in the weather and the pests that, if not treated on time, completely damage the crop. Her dream is to have her own house, fixed up and big enough, because the family is growing. She will continue expanding her coffee crops. She is young enough to work, and she feels capable of becoming the best coffee producer in the area. As a mother, she will generate the income needed in order to be able to support her children in their education. She will do this so that they are able to have better opportunities than she did when she was a youth. Gladis is requesting financial support from the COMIXMUL cooperative. She will buy agricultural supplies. This way she will be able to take care of her coffee crops. She will manage to get an excellent harvest this season. She will reinvest in her coffee crops in order to fulfill her dreams and goals.
