but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy seeds.

Los Pinos Group's story

The “Los Pinos” communal bank will begin its second cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Patacamaya regional center. It is comprised of nine members and led by a board of directors. Esther is the treasurer. The businesses of the communal bank members are varied and include knitting gloves, buying and selling potatoes and ‘chuño’ (dehydrated potatoes), knitting hats, buying and selling cattle and sheep, farming, making backpacks, and quinoa production. The loan that they will take out will benefit small businesswomen where Esther is a member. She said that this is the first time she has been a member of Pro Mujer. She joined by invitation from a friend, who is a member of the institution. She currently has a farming business (potato production). She says that she learned this business several years ago because it is a family business. When she got her life partner, they decided to both work in the same business. The loan that she will now take out is to increase capital to buy seeds that she will buy from the stores in La Paz. After the harvest, she will sell her product at her sales space. This way of working allows her to generate resources to support her family because she is in a partnership. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she replied that she likes the trainings that the institution offers.
