Betty's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped buy stock like sugar, beans, and rice to sell in her shop.
Betty is 40 years old and lives in the town of Kitintale in the Kampala region of south Uganda. She is married and has 3 children, two of which are currently in school. For the past 2 years, Betty has been working hard to manage her retail shop which sells posho, beans, rice, and sugar. To help expand her business, Betty has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy stock like sugar, beans, and rice, and will help Betty to generate greater profits which will be used to pay school fees. Betty hopes that in the future, she will be able to open up a wholesale shop. Betty is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Betty who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
