Atiocoyo Ix Group's story

Alcira is a 28-year-old farmer from La Libertad department. She belongs to a solidarity group called Atiocoyo IX. They all make their living as farmers and in animal husbandry.

Alcira has a partner. She studied up to the second grade because she has had to to work since she was a child in order to help out with the family finances as her parents had little money. She has four children between the ages of 5 and 15 years old and the three oldest are currently in school.

For 10 years Alcira has made a living growing corn, beans, and sorghum as well as raising animals. This work has allowed her to support her family financially. She is requesting a loan to buy cattle, feed them, and then sell them. As a result of this she hopes to make a good profit and improve her family's finances. She also hopes to be able to give her children the opportunity to study that she did not have and that they have a better quality of life.
