Chhorn's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to cover her son's entire tuition fee for four years.

Chhorn's story

Chhorn is a rural villager from Kampong Cham province's Tbaung Khmum district where crop farming is a common way to make a living. She is 40 years old and she has three children, all of whom are still in school. Chhorn has been planting cassava for 20 years and she supplements the income by raising pigs. The current business earns her about US $21 per day to support her family. This is the first-cycle loan for Chhorn with Kiva's partner, VisionFund. Now, she is applying for an education loan to cover the entire tuition fee for four years for her oldest son, a 20-year-old freshman in a local university specializing in Nursing. She highly hopes that this loan will enable her to send her oldest son to university and also help her son to obtain a higher education background and end up with a good job after graduation in order to support the family.
