6 De Agosto Group's story

The communal bank 6 De Agosto, part of the Copacabana regional office, will begin its third loan from Pro Mujer. This group is composed of 8 members and is led by a board of directors of which Celestina is president. The members of this communal bank work in various businesses such as selling cheese and freeze-dried potatoes, buying and selling livestock, milk, flowers, and fish. This loan will benefit small businesowners such as Celestina. She points out that this is the first time she has joined Pro Mujer, having been invited by friend who is a member of this institution. Currently she sells flowers and she says that she started this business of her own accord when she saw that this product was highly demanded in the market. The loan Celestina is requesting is to buy more flowers from wholesalers in the city of El Alto and sell them from her stall. This kind of job allows her to obtain more income to support her family. She is married and has two kids. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer she says that she likes that the members of the group can save money.
