Fred's story

Fred is 41 years old and lives in the town of Kireka in Uganda. He is married and has two children who are both currently in school. For the past three years, Fred has been working hard to manage his electronics business, which sells electronics items. To help expand his business, Fred has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more stock, and will help Fred to generate greater profits and will increase his daily sales. Fred hopes that, in the future, he will be able to have a bigger shop. Fred is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Fred who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
