but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy agricultural supplies to protect her pineapple crop.

Elizabeth's story

Elizabeth, who is 35 years old, is an enterprising and hard-working woman. She is married and she and her husband have 3 children who help their mother in the various tasks which need doing in the field such as weeding, pruning, applying fertilizer, fumigation, etc. Elizabeth has completed her primary education up to 6th grade and was unable to continue with her education because of a lack of financial support from her parents. She makes a living selling food and pineapple, which she also grows. She has been doing this for a year and she and her children do this work on their own since her husband has lived in the US for some time. He supports them by sending money to his wife and children. Elizabeth works hard with her children on a daily basis to get on in life, dividing the work up between them. This is why she is now asking for help to buy manure, fertilizers and other supplies which will help to protect her pineapple plants from insects and other problems which can damage the crop. Her plans for the future are to have a bigger pineapple plantation but also to grow coffee so she can give variety to her customers and everyone who consumes her produce so that she can generate more income which will eventually strengthen her household finances and the assets for her children and grandchildren.
