Rancho Loma Bonita Group's story
The "Rancho Loma Bonita" group is based in a beautiful, calm village which can only be reached by public transport. Their business place is right in the village, but their houses are much farther away. They also have a small ranch where they have many animals. They chose this group name because they like the place where they live. They live on a ranch on a small hill ("loma"). Guadalupe, or Lupita, as she is better known, is a member of this group. She is 55 years old and has been married to Adán for 30 years. They have two children who are now independent. She has a small corn mill and another mill which she uses to make feed for her animals. Her mills are more than 20 years old. "I started up with the mills because when I got married, my husband had many animals and I helped him a lot. That is how I learned to work with these mills." She is applying for this loan to make repairs to her mills. Lupita offers the service of her corn mill every day. Her clients come to her to grind their corn to make tortillas. Lupita says, "I want to work very hard so that I can manage to open another small place for another business." The group members' advantage is that they are in a good location to have many clients. The other members of the group are Alfredo, who will invest in his butcher's shop, Adán, who will invest in his vegetable sales, and Isidro, who will buy cattle.
