Bubare Tukore Hamwe Group's story
The Bubare group is located on the outskirts of Ibanda town. It is comprised mainly of women who fall into different categories of married, divorced and a few single mothers. Loyce is a single mother who divorced her husband because he married a second wife. She was left with five children and also takes care of her sister's daughter because her mother cannot provide her basic needs. Loyce runs a small retail shop with a capital of UGX 400,000 where she earns income to look after the family. She has applied for a loan of UGX 800,000 to add more stock to her retail shop, and she will use the rest of the money to pay school fees for her children. Her customers are neighbors and a few outsiders. Her major challenge is that her children often fall sick which requires a lot of money to pay hospital bills, and this affects her cash flow. Despite these challenges, Loyce is a very honest and hardworking woman, striving hard to provide all her family's basics and send her children to good schools.
