Danaya Group's story

The women in the Danaya group are all married, are on average 40 years old with five children, and all live in traditional extended families in the village of Tingolé, in the Binko district, which is part of the Dioila prefecture, in Koulikoro (third administrative region of the Republic of Mali). They met through kinship, neighborhood ties and friendship. They are active in commerce and catering. The Danaya group of women is on their third group loan. Group member Sira is the second from the left, and is a caterer who sells baked beans. She intends to buy 60 kg of beans with this loan. She expects to achieve an average monthly profit of 22,000 CFA francs, part of which will be reused in the activity and the rest in family expenses.
