Nurjan is 41 years old, divorced and is raising three children on her own. Nurjan has a high school education. As a main source of income for her family, Nurjan is involved in raising livestock, having started 12 years ago with the purchase of livestock for 8,000 som KGS. Thanks to her hard work, Nurjan today has on her homestead: 1 dairy cow and 16 sheep. Monthly income consists of 7,500 som (KGS). In order to further develop her homestead, Nurjan turned to the microfinance bank Bai-Tushum and Partners for a loan of 50,000 som (KGS) to purchase a cow to increase the livestock count. Nurjan plans to invest income from the loan in further increase the quantity of domestic livestock, and plans to save money for home repairs.
