Manco Kapac Group's story

The communal bank “Manco Kapac” will begin its tenth cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Focal Center Copacabana. This group consists of 8 members and it is led by a governing body, of which Raimunda is the President. The members of the communal bank carry out diverse business activities, among them: trout farming, selling bread, food, fruits, cheese, and the running of a small convenience store and a grocery store. The loan that they are requesting now will benefit small micro businesswomen, and Raimunda is one of them. She has been a member of Pro Mujer throughout 7 cycles of the program. She joined when a friend who was a member invited her. Currently, Raimunda runs a food stall, which she initiated 7 years ago with a few savings that she had available. This loan will help Raimunda to buy inputs for her business (groceries and vegetables) from wholesale suppliers at the city El Alto. Once she prepares her products, she will proceed to sell them at her food stall. This will help her to generate the income to support her household, as she is married and is a mother of 7 children. When asked what services offered by Pro Mujer she likes the most, Raimunda replies that what she values the most is the credit and the savings that the group builds up together.
