Virgen De Socabon Group's story

The communal bank "VIRGEN DEL SOCABON" is beginning is fourth loan cycle through the Pro Mujer Program at the social center in Villa Tejada. The group is comprised of eight members and its secretary is Olga. The businesses of the members are varied and include: vegetable sales, knitting, driver, parking attendant, food sales, crafts, and quinoa sales. The loan they are requesting will benefit the small business owners including Olga. This is her first loan through Pro Mujer. She joined by invitation from a friend of hers who is a member of the institution. She currently has a business making sweaters, gloves and leg warmers. She started her business five years ago when she was working as a workshop assistant. She started her business with a little of her own capital. The loan she is requesting is to increase her working capital to buy wool from wholesale dealers in the city of El Alto. She will then sell her products based on orders. Her work allows her to support her household as well as she can. She has a common-law husband and two children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says it is the training regarding loans and health.
