Maria Felipa's story
María Felipa is 58 years old and she is a strong woman with a lot of hopes and dreams. In spite of her age, she does not give up on dreaming big. She takes maximum advantage of every day. She is the mother of 5 children, three of whom are married and in separate homes. Only the two youngest live with her and they are still in school. They support their father with different tasks in the field like they are his brothers. María, together with her children and her husband, work in agriculture, specifically the cultivation and planting of coffee. They have performed this work for many years because they were very young when their parents taught them how to work the earth. She has completed primary school and she thanks her parents for giving her this opportunity in spite of their economic difficulties. The land that they work on is their own thanks to an inheritance from their parents who are located 4 kilometers away from their home which they can walk to on foot. Today she is seeking economic support from COMIXMUL to buy 1500 coffee seedlings for cultivation, 12 sacks of fertilizer, 2 liters of aluminum and 10 liters of boron with which they will use to improve and extend their coffee plantation with their new purchase for planting. Her plans for the future are to improve to be one of the best farms in the region because, through this new plantation, she hopes to obtain positive reviews for the next season. As a mother, her dreams are to be able to give her young children a good strong future through the legacy that she is establishing with her husband and that her children can live their lives in a positive way.
