Oumou's Group's story

Created on May 7, 2009, this group is composed of women who are very active in agriculture in their village. Their solidarity is unwavering. They are dedicated to small-scale commerce to reduce barriers for obtaining typical consumer products. Ms. Oumou (seated at the far right with her hand raised) is the featured borrower of the group. She is a married mother of four children, including two girls. She is a very energetic woman in her work. She is the leader of her 'banc villageois' and is active in selling soap, oil, rice, and a variety of other grocery items. With her new loan, she is going to purchase some traditional soap for 36,000 francs CFA; 20 liters of refined oil; 2 sacks of rice; and various seasonings. The profits will allow her to support her husband significantly in meeting family needs in terms of food.
