A loan helped To buy enough red oil to increase her sales.

Mamie's story

Mamie lives in New Kru town which is one of the oldest communities in Liberia. Living conditions there are a bit difficult due to the high rate of criminal activity, fewer bathrooms, filthy conditions and overpopulation, but the most interesting part is that rooms are a bit cheaper. There is also the option of traveling; the town contains one of the biggest markets in Liberia, with lower rates on food. Mamie is married to a local businessman. They have a 19-year-old child who is currently attending school and living at home. Mamie was unfortunate not to attend school, but she started a table market business which sells red oil in the local market. With the loan proceeds, she will buy enough red oil to increase her sales. Her problem is fewer goods on her table. She got money from her husband to establish this business 5 years ago, and she learned by observing other businesswomen. She enjoys the flos of costumers. Her plan is to move from the table business to a shop business.
