Alies is a 47-year old married woman, living in the area of Lahore, Pakistan. She is the mother of 4 children, her 2 sons also doing jobs as a laborers on daily wages. Her 2 daughters help her in daily routine work. She has requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner BRAC Pakistan, and she will hand over the whole amount to her husband. Her husband will utilize the amount partially for their restaurant and partially for their scrap business. Her husband owns a restaurant in morning and scrap dealing work starts after noon. Alies requested a loan for her husband. He will use this amount partially for his restaurant to buy vegetables, beef, chicken, and pulses for cooking, and a partially for his scrap business to buy scrap goods such as iron, plastic accessories etc. With the increase in the household expenses, she wants to grow the business as well. She wants to save the profits so that she can arrange the marriage of both her daughters. Alies hopes that this loan will prove productive for her and she will save a reasonable amount soon. Alies is very thankful to the Kiva and its field partner BRAC Pakistan.
