Sabaly Group's story

Sabaly is a group of married women who live in the Hamdallaye district of Koutiala town and who know each other well. They live in extended, traditional families and have an average age of 34 and 4 children or more. The women in this group sell various items including fabrics and cereals. The members decided to join the Soro Yiriwaso loan program in order to increase the size of their businesses. They are on their 4th group loan. Koro, second from the right in the picture, plans to use her loan to buy some packages of fabrics. She gets her supplies at the Grand Market and sells the items for cash, door-to-door or at the market, to a divers retail clientèle. Koro hopes to make an average monthly profit of 90 000 francs which will be used for personal expenditures and to increase her working capital.
