A loan helped to buy organic fertilizer.

Nancy's story

Nancy is 27 years old, she is married to Rogelio, and they have a son who is 3 years old. She lives in her own house that is made from adobe. Nancy has worked in agriculture with her husband for more than 8 years growing organic cocoa, and this is her main source of income. She owns a parcel of land that she works on very carefully because she bought it with hard-earned money. On her land we can find organic cocoa crops and mullein (plants commonly used in herbal medicine) that she sells to collectors in the region, as herbal medicine products are now in high demand. She hires workers to perform the most complicated tasks on her land, and she recovers the cost of the workers at the end of the season. She has many goals, the biggest of which is to save money so that she can open a small grocery store on the first floor of her home in order to earn additional income in parallel with her work on the land. This is her second loan from Kiva and she is thankful for the financial support that she is receiving so that she can get by. She also promises to make payments punctually. With this loan of 1,000 nuevos soles, she will buy organic fertilizer.
