Maximina's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to buy compost.
Máximina is a 52 year old woman who lives with her son Julian, in her adobe house. Máximina married very young and she and her husband were able to buy a two acre piece of land with which to support her family. This is how she began producing organic cacao, using the knowledge she learned from her parents and having grown up in the fields. This is where she learned the necessary techniques to obtain a commercial quality product which is more profitable from her region. She got more motivated when she became a widow and was left with the responsibility of caring for her son, so she does her work with the help of other workers who weed and harvest. At the end of the season, she dries the cacao nuts outdoors and takes them to large chocolate producers in a different city. This will be her second Kiva loan and she is grateful for the financial support that she gets to help her get ahead. She is also committed to making her payments on time. She is asking for a loan of 1,000 Nuevos Soles to buy compost to feed her crops.
