Benkadi Iii Group's story
The members of the Benkadi III group are married women, who on average are 42 years old, have six children and live in polygamous families in Korobarage, one of the villages of Sikasso, the 3rd administrative region of Mali. They collaborate with the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution in order to run their agricultural businesses during the rainy season. They are on their third loan with the institution, having paid back their previous loans in full. Their crop is corn with Ms. Mah standing in the second position from the left to the right of the photo. With this loan, she expects to buy plowing, seeds, and fertilizers to maintain .5. The output is sold at the village level in Sikasso after the harvest to a customer base made up of men and women. She expects to make a profit of 50,000 francs CFA by farming. This profit will allow her to pay back her loan and also to help her husband with the daily expenses.
