Teresa's story

Forty-five year old Teresa is a simple woman. She lives in the company of her husband, Martín, with whom she has 5 minor children, whom she cares for in her own home. Teresa makes her living in agriculture, and everyday, she heads out very early to care for her fields of potatoes, peas and corn. She says that she can plant a wide variety of vegetables because she has irrigation at her disposal, and that allows her to plant at any time of year. Now she is waiting for the corn harvest because she has buyers who already inspected her fields and want to buy her produce. Since she is a hardworking woman, she also has cows, bulls and pigs, which she sells continuously, since the meat that they produce is of good quality. This is her first loan with Kiva, and she hopes to continue with the financial support. She also is committed to making her payments on time. Teresa will invest the 1500 soles in the purchase of organic compost to nourish her fields.
