San Luis Group's story
The communal bank group “SAN LUIS” is starting its 29th loan cycle in Pro Mujer as part of the Central Focus of Collpani. This group is made up of eight members and is led by a board of directors, of which Vicenta is the treasurer. The businesses owned by these group members are diverse and include repairing electronics, selling beauty products, running a grocery store, selling glasswares, selling clothing, selling blankets, and sewing sweaters. This loan will benefit the small business owners who are members of Vicenta's group. Vicenta reports that she has been involved with Pro Mujer for 18 months. She joined at the invitation of a friend who was already a member. Currently, Vicenta runs her own fruit stand. She learned this trade from working alongside her mother in the family business before she decided to open her own fruit stand. She will use this loan to increase her capital (to buy fruit). She will buy the fruit at wholesale to later sell at her fruit stand. This form of work allows Vicenta to generate resources for her family. She is married and has four children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she answers that she likes the orientation from credit advisors.
