Bozo Group's story

The 6 members of the Bozo group are women with an average are of 34 and, on average, 2 children, who are mostly married and living in monogamous households. They all live in the village of Kalaban Coro, the main town of the district located in the circle of Kati (in the second administrative region of Mali) and got to know each other thanks to neighbourly and family relationships. The group members sell fruit, vegetables, beauty products, wax pagnes (highly decorative and colourful West African cloth) and charcoal. The members of the group decided to work with Soro Yiriwaso in order to increase their working capital and are on their first group loan. Fatouma (sitting on the left in the picture) is a large seller of quality pagnes. She plans to use her loan to buy 18 bolts of wax pagnes in Bamako. She makes her sales for cash or credit in Kalaban Coro to a clientèle mainly made up of women. Thanks to this loan, Fatouma hopes to make an average monthly profit of 35 000 francs which will be reinvested in her business.
