A loan helped to buy water.

Geomara Geoconda's story

In the City of Portoviejo, known as the City of the Royal Tamarinds since colonial times, the “17 de Julio” communal bank meets every two weeks. Geomara lives here. She is 34 years old, married, and has five children, ages 17, 16, 14, 6 and 2. They all attend school. Her husband is a merchant. Geomara and her husband have a store in their home from where they distribute water all around the city. Her husband makes deliveries to neighborhoods, stores, installations and homes around town by car, while she sells from the shop. They sell this vital liquid in all forms. They’ve been doing this for more than eight years and it allows them to get ahead and provide for their family. This loan is so they can buy water in different forms and stock their business. She has been with the communal bank for two years and she likes it because of the assistance she gets from the installation. Her dream is for her children to get a good education.
