Ama's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a greater amount of maize.

Ama's story

Due to difficult circumstances, Ama did not have access to any form of formal education. However, this has not stopped her from achieving her dream of becoming an entrepreneur. Currently, Ama prepares and sells Kenkey (a traditional Ghanaian dish made from corn dough and wrapped in banana leaves) in her village of Akonoma (near Cape Coast). She has been doing so for about 20 years. Ama is married to a farmer, and together they have one child. Ama uses all her income to feed and provide for her family. Ama will use the loan to purchase a greater amount of maize, which will aid her in improving her overall Kenkey sales. Ama wants to use the future profits from her expanded business to ensure that all her children are able to receive an education.
