A loan helped to buy leather.

Virgen De Guadalupe Group's story

The “VIRGEN DE GUADALUPE” community association will begin its thirtieth cycle in Pro Mujer, as a part of the Centro Focal de Villa Tejada. It is made up of nine members and directed by a board headed by Señora Hilda. The members of the community association have various businesses, including selling food, weaving knitwear, making jackets and selling sweets. The loan they receive will benefit small micro-entrepreneurs including Señora Hilda. She explains that she joined Pro Mujer fifteen years ago, after being invited by a friend who was a member of the organisation. She currently has a business making and selling jackets. She set up this business with the first loan she obtained from Pro Mujer, also learning how to make clothing in the technical courses given by the organisation. She will use this loan to increase her capital (to buy leather) which she purchases from markets in the city of El Alto. She then sells it in her sales outlet. This way of working allows her to make money to support her household as much as possible, because she is single and has two children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says that she likes the training sessions on loans and health.
