A loan helped to buy silk.

Chamampi Sartasiñani Group's story

The Chamampi Sartasiñani Communal Bank is entering its seventh cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the German Busch Regional Office. It is made up of eight members and it is governed by a board of directors, the president of which is Elsa. The communal bank members do different types of work, such as selling pots, weaving blankets, carpentry, selling blankets, making doors, selling potatoes, and locksmithing. The loan they are taking out will benefit small businesswomen, one of which is Elsa. She tells us that she joined Pro Mujer nine years ago on the invitation of a friend who is a member of the institution. She currently has a business weaving and selling embroidered blankets. She also tells us that she started this business when she was very young, learning her technique in a workshop where she was employed and later deciding to start her own shop. The loan she is currently taking out is to increase her capital to buy silk, which she will get from distributors wholesale and which she will then embroider and sell at her shop. This way of working allows her to generate income to support her family, as she is married with five children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she tells us that she likes the training sessions.
