Jardines Del Sur Group's story
The "JARDINES DEL SUR" [SOUTHERN GARDENS] communal bank is beginning its eighth cycle with Pro Mujer. As part of the Villa Tejada Regional Office, it is made up of nine members and is directed by a board, of which Angelica is the treasurer. The members of the communal association participate in a variety of businesses, among them candy sales, flower sales, beauty product sales, grocery sales, eiderdown and sponge sales, a corner store, and food sales. The loan that they intend to take out will benefit the small business owners that Angelica is a member of. She reports that she has been a member of Pro Mujer for ten years, entering by invitation of a friend who is a member of the institution. Currently she has a food business (barbecue stand). She started this business together with her spouse. Since he is a chef, they took advantage of this opportunity to start their family business. The loan that she will now take out is to increase her capital (purchase of plates and cutlery). She will acquire this from the fairs in the city of El Alto and then will use it to provide service in her business. This form of work allows her to generate resources to support her home as much as possible, since she is married and has four children. When she is asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, her response is that she likes the loans, the savings and the health services.
